Mets Won't Win The World Series
The baseball playoffs are around the corner, and the Mets are looking like the only real choice to come out of the National League. The Cardinals are a disaster, the Dodgers are coming back to earth and the Reds and the Phillies have more holes than a block of swiss cheese (Philadelphia picked up ancient hurler Jamie Moyer in a vain attempt to solve their pitching woes, for example). The Mets may be the best choice, but they don't inspire much confidence.Read more…Did Sensitivity Training Kill The White Sox?
There are going to be lots of recriminations when the White Sox fail to make it to the post-season, which feels all but assured at this point.Did they have enough talent on the squad, especially depth in the bullpen when it comes to middle relief?Did GM Ken Williams stand pat on trades when he should have acted more like the Dodgers’ Ned Colletti, wheeling and dealing throughout the season?Read more…The New MLB Drug Testing Policy

In the fourth grade, a boy named Willie McTavish moved from Scotland to Auburn California, which was my home town. Miss Arbortree, our teacher, appointed me to show him around the school grounds, and to make him fell at home. I don’t know why I was selected, unless it was the plaid shirt I was wearing that day.Read more…Baseballs Fattest Man
Baseballs fattest man is a thought that caught me in a moment of relaxation late one evening and it struck me as an interesting thing, what with baseball so filled with statistics. Not to dwell completely on the fattest man theme but other quizzical possible obscure facts. We all have heard of Bill Veeck and his putting the ringer of a midget in uniform for baseball.Read more…Baseball Gloves

Babe Ruth joined the Yankees baseball team in 1920, after his contract was sold by the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees. With the baseball season in full swing, it's time to remember how geeks and technology have transformed the game of baseball. Over the past three decades, the internet, medical advances, and the globalization media have fundamentally transformed how fans consume baseball and how ballplayers play America's pastime. Below is a survey of some of the ways technology has effected baseball, and some ideas on how some new technologies will continue to affect baseball.Read more…Don't Panic Just Yet Met Fans
The last few days have featured some of the Mets worst baseball of the season. With Pedro likely headed to the DL for the 2nd time this season, joining Cliff Floyd, the Mets have dropped their first two games at Philadelphia by a combined score of 24-4. Pedro only lasted one inning before being removed with an injured calf and El Duque set a Mets club record for most earned runs allowed in one appearance with 11. The bats have died with the exception of Jose Reyes who drove in all 4 of their runs on the first 3 homer game of his career.Read more…Baseball Coaching - Don't Forget Your Catchers
There's this certain "thing" about baseball coaching and baseball practices that I've noticed over the years. It isn't just High School teams or just teams in summer leagues…it's a common problem the way I see it. Some teams/coaches can be worse than others when it comes to this, but many times it appears to be much the same story.Read more…Baseball Autographs
Signatures of popular baseball players have always had great appeal to collectors. Autographs of baseball hall of famers such as Babe Ruth, Tee Cobb, Roberto Clement and Lou Geri top the list of the most sought-after collectibles. Even autographs of other baseball players who did not make the Hall of Fame but had outstanding careers, such as Roger Mares, Thurman Munson and Tony Consigliore, are also wonderful additions to a collection.Read more…Little League Controversy? Get Over It!
Recently, a controversy has arisen over a Little League championship game in Utah. The father of one of the players has taken exception to the fact that the best hitter on his son's team was intentionally walked by the coach of the other team in order to get to his son, who is a cancer survivor. At the time it happened, his son's team was down by one run in the final inning with a player on third.Read more…The Fantasy Report: Coming Down The Stretch

After questioning the grit of my Chicago White Sox for most of this season, I’m happy to see they passed an important gut-check this afternoon by completing a three game sweep of the top team in baseball, the Detroit Tigers. This is the second time the Sox have swept the Tigers, an accomplishment no other team can claim to have done once, this year.In fact, arguably, the Sox play their best ball under pressure.Read more…Has Wang Hit the Wall?
Chien-Ming Wang has been the epitome of consistency and efficiency in the first four months of this season. Wang has been eating up a lot of innings, while getting runners out very easily with his nasty sinker. God only knows what kind of shape the Yankees would be in if Wang hasn’t been pitching as well as he has.Read more…A-Rod: A Liability at Third Base
In the beginning of the year, when A-Rod was hearing it from the boobirds of Yankee Stadium, I was sticking up for the guy. I told friends, family, people on the internet, and fellow fans to give the guy a break and that he would be getting back on track relatively soon. A-Rod would get back to his old ways of playing great offensively, and playing a damn good third base for the Yankees.Read more…Baseball Glove Repair - Fix Your Own Glove
As I sat there watching the pitcher and infielders warm up in between innings, out of the corner of my eye I noticed one of the coaches just outside the dugout trying to get someone's attention. While football and basketball are the most popular sports to bet on, baseball could be the easiest for beginners once you understand how to read the money line. Money line gambling is the primary wagering option for baseball bettors, which involves betting on the straight-up game outcome with no consideration for a point spread. Like life in traditional society, but unlike football and basketball, the other two major American team sports, baseball is not governed by the clock and amazes many foreigners that it is the "national sport" in a fast-paced United States. Being a very popular team sport, apart from North America also in Latin America, the Caribbean and East Asia, baseball is a bat-and-ball game in which a pitcher throws a fist-sized hard ball past the hitting area of a batter. The batter, who belongs to the other team, then attempts to hit the ball with a smooth, cylindrical bat made of wood or metal. - My Daughter Came of Age in Disney - By: Aron Wallad
