In 1909, Eureka was founded by Fred Wardell. At the 1915 San Francisco International Exposition, the Detroit, Michigan company won the Grand Prize. By 1927, one third of all the vacuum cleaners being sold in the United States were Eureka vacuum cleaners. The headquarters was moved from Detroit to Bloomington, Illinois in 1945 and has not been moved since. Electrolux Home Care Products North America purchased the company in 2004.
